Thai food is always a hit or miss and guys this place is a HIT! The food is amazing and they have a lot of options that are vegan/vegetarian friendly! Loved the dumplings and drunken noodles I got!
PSA: it is cash only and small seating area -

This is a small spot that makes solid Thai food. I loved their papa salad, it had just the right amount of kick in it! Also, all your favorites are here, and taste good. I love their pad Thai.
If you want to dine in, it's a cute spot, but very little seating. It doesn't seem to ever get too crowded, though. Whenever someone asks if they want to go here, I say, sure! -

I don't know what happened since the last time I came here, but the food fell off in a big way. Drunken noodles are mushy, everything has way too much oil in it. Inconsistent flavors. One day your meal will be amazing, the next, you can't finish it.
The mock duck was the only good thing on the menu but it really can't redeem a failed dish. I no longer recommend. -

That should advertise on Yelp that this is a take out place with a few tables for dine in. It is NOT a restaurant! You are practically sitting in the kitchen.

Jeera Thai is a solid place for Thai food, but nothing special or particularly authentic. As other reviewers have mentioned, the seating area is cramped and tables are limited. It is impossible to get through to tables without bumping into other patrons, which is very awkward and uncomfortable. This place is more of a take-out than dine-in restaurant. Also, it is cash-only which is a bummer - but there's a convenient ATM in-store. Location is very central in downtown New Haven on lively Crown Street.
I ordered their Drunken Noodles with tofu and veggies. It was fine and edible, but does not hold a candle to the drunken noodles at Pad Thai Restaurant and (formerly) Thai Taste, both on Chapel Street. The diversity of veggies offered in the Drunken Noodles at Pad Thai also wins over Jeera Thai - my drunken noodles at Jeera Thai only included blanched bok choy, some onions, sliced carrots, and a sprinkling of red bell peppers. I don't think there was egg in my dish, unfortunately, because an egg can really elevate a Drunken Noodle dish. Finally, these Drunken Noodles were not spicy at all, even when I requested extra spicy. They were savory, but contained only the tiniest hint of spice - it tasted more like a Pad See Ew. Service was curt, but prompt.
I have nothing else to add to my review, other than I would only recommend coming to Jeera Thai if you are in the immediate area, craving Thai food, and are unwilling to walk the two extra blocks to Pad Thai.
